Moorhead Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Assault and Robbery Suspects

MOORHEAD, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Moorhead police are asking for the public’s help in locating two individuals involved in a violent assault and robbery that occurred in South Moorhead early Monday morning, August 26. The incident, reported just after 6 a.m., left the victim with injuries, including a fractured rib and facial wounds.

According to a release from the Moorhead Police Department, the victim, whose identity has not been released, informed officers that a woman he knew, 32-year-old Kaitlyn Smith of Moorhead, lured him to the 3000 block of 33rd Street South. Once there, two men assaulted him and stole his backpack and other personal belongings. The victim was able to identify one of his assailants as 31-year-old Francisco Vargas Jr. The second man involved in the assault remains unidentified.

The victim managed to escape the scene and alert authorities. Police are now urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kaitlyn Smith or Francisco Vargas Jr. to contact the Red River Regional Dispatch Center at 701-451-7660.
