MARSHALL COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A 67-year-old Argyle man is facing multiple felony charges after law enforcement discovered methamphetamine and stolen property during an investigation earlier this month.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Marshall County District Court, Ronald Lee Erickson has been charged with two felonies: Fifth-Degree Controlled Substance Crime and Theft of Movable Property Without Consent. Deputies say they found 45 grams of methamphetamine and more than $1,000 worth of stolen tools at his home in Argyle.
The case began on the morning of September 17, 2025, when Marshall County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a theft report in Argyle. The victim reported that tools had been stolen from his camper trailer. Bucklin and Deputy Cody Gillund followed drag marks from the stolen trailer, which led to a gray tarp-covered carport structure at Erickson’s residence on East 2nd Street.
At the scene, deputies found various items linking the theft to the property, including tools, gloves, and parts from the victim’s trailer hitch. Bucklin identified several of his belongings in plain view near a blue GMC Acadia parked at Erickson’s residence. Inside the vehicle, Bucklin spotted two tool bags, including one marked “Gander Mountain,” that he identified as his property.
Deputies secured the area and obtained a search warrant for Erickson’s residence and vehicle. When officers arrived at Erickson’s workplace in Argyle to question him, he was found participating in a virtual court appearance related to a Wisconsin case. Afterward, he was detained and transported back to his residence. Erickson allegedly told deputies he “knew he shouldn’t have done this” and that he “had a bad feeling about it.”
During the search, deputies discovered a white crystal substance later identified as methamphetamine. They temporarily stopped the search to obtain a second warrant specifically for narcotics. When the search resumed, officers found about 45 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and chemical equipment in a basement bedroom. Agents from the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force were called to assist with the investigation.
In addition to the drugs, authorities recovered numerous stolen items valued at over $1,000 inside Erickson’s GMC Acadia. Court records show Erickson has two prior drug-related convictions from 2007 and 2020.
Erickson was arrested and transported to the Pennington County Jail. Both felony charges carry a potential sentence of up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The case is being prosecuted by the Marshall County Attorney’s Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
