Conservation Officer Jeremy Woinarowicz of Thief River Falls investigated illegal burning activities. Enforcement action from last week included no state park permit, no fire extinguisher on watercraft, failure to display watercraft registration, burning prohibited materials, and no helmet on juvenile ATV passengers.

Meanwhile, Conservation Officer Nicholas Prachar of Blackduck assisted the Minnesota State Patrol with a single vehicle rollover on Highway 72 near Upper Red Lake.

47-year-old Richard Scott Ames, of Madeira Beach, Florida was seriously injured when the northbound Chevy he was driving rolled Saturday evening. Ames was taken to Fargo hospital and treated for injuries troopers at the scene described as life-threatening.

Officials say alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Conservation Officer Tony Elwell of Thief River Falls spent time preparing for the upcoming bear-baiting season and handled injured-animal calls. Enforcement action was taken for no angling license in possession and ATV-related violations.

And the blueberries are ripe in Beltrami Island State Forest.

Conservation Officer Ben Huener of Roseau says people have “flocked there for the amazing blueberry picking.” Huener this week monitored ATV activity in the Beltrami Island State Forest. He says violations for the week included angling with an extra line and possessing an over-limit of walleyes.
