Dakota County (trfnews.i234.me) — A 16-year-old boy is under arrest after online threats targeted high schools in the South Metro. The threats affected schools in the Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Eagan areas.
The Apple Valley Police Department said the arrest came after a multi-agency investigation. Police said the threats caused great concern across several school communities.
School Closures Followed Threat
Officials said the threats led to school closures on Tuesday. The schools are located south of Minneapolis. Families and staff received alerts as leaders worked with law enforcement.
Police searched the teen’s residence after the investigation developed leads. Officers said they did not find weapons during that search. Police said they are still reviewing information tied to the online posts.

Investigation Involved Multiple Agencies
Police did not release the teen’s name due to age. Police also did not list possible charges in the initial announcement. The case remains under investigation.
District leaders urged families to stay alert and report concerns. The school district that serves the area is Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan Public Schools (District 196). School safety plans often include extra patrols and controlled access.
How to Report a Threat
Law enforcement encourages the public to report threats quickly. You can also submit tips to the FBI. In an emergency, call 911 right away.
Parents can also review school safety guidance from the U.S. Department of Education. Safety experts say fast reporting can prevent harm.
Authorities said they will share updates as the case moves forward. They also thanked partners who helped identify the suspect.
