Anoka County (trfnews.i234.me) — A man has died while in custody at the Anoka County Jail early Monday morning, prompting an independent investigation.
According to the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, the man collapsed at approximately 12:28 a.m. on March 24, while being attended to by detention staff. Life-saving efforts were immediately initiated, and Allina EMS responded, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene [1][2][3].
Sheriff Brad Wise expressed condolences and emphasized the jail’s duty of care. The Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office has taken over the investigation, following standard protocol for in-custody deaths to ensure transparency. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the inmate’s identity remains withheld. Updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
