Anoka County (trfnews.i234.me) – In a grim development, Anoka County Sheriff Brad Wise revealed Tuesday that investigators spent four weeks combing through 180,000 cubic feet of debris at the Elk River landfill in the search for missing person Collins, whose body was believed to have been discarded in a Columbia Heights dumpster.
Collins was last seen on May 8, and since then, there had been no activity on his phone or social media. This disappearance sparked an urgent investigation, leading authorities to ask local residents and businesses to review surveillance footage between May 8–12.
Video evidence pointed investigators to the landfill, where the intensive search took place. While a person of interest was identified early on, no arrests have been made as of this week.
The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to determine the official cause and manner of death, but officials suspect Collins died between May 8 and May 13.
