Allen D. Shane – TRF News-Obit

Allen Shane, 79 of Grand Forks, North Dakota died Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Altru Hospital with his family by his side. As Allen would say, “He died once bet he won’t do that again.”

Allen Duane Shane was born the youngest of four to Earl and Donna (Haugen) Shane on June 11, 1946, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was that “pesky” little brother causing a lot of ruckus. Al was raised in Alvarado, Minnesota.

After high school he attended Wahpeton School of Science. He was married to Suellen Farder in 1966. They had their daughter, Karla and son, David. Even though they later divorced, they remained friends.

Al was in sales for many years, working at Rydell’s and Kentworth. He eventually became the owner of Grand Forks Campground in 1989. AL was a hard strong headed worker because “nothing is free in this world.” He cherished his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Al enjoyed taking them on the Kawasaki Mule, “beep beep”, just lucky to be close to those he loved.
