Air Boat Rescue in Flooded Walsh County, ND – Latest Update

Neil Berg here with a little flood update on what’s been going on in walsh county northwest of grand forks just talked with walsh county sheriff jim jergens we’re going to start and finish this report in minto lots of backtracking to get anywhere roads are under all over so this is on highway minto is on highway 81 some 30 miles northwest of grand forks just coming up to it here the roads closed forest river is uh flooded through town here closing that uh farther northwest up in grafton another 10 miles northwest of here sheriff says uh highway 17 is uh also underwater and closed then a bit further some uh eight miles uh west of uh grafton by the mennonite church they had to do some sandbagging there and also sandbagging along the park river let’s see here just going through my notes after talking to the sheriff you can see the water here at minto stretches out for miles road closed here so the biggest story of the day i guess in walsh county is in forest river some 10 miles southwest of here sheriff says a couple had to be rescued from a farmstead by an airboat this happened some two miles west of forest river uh couples on their farmstead they’re surrounded by sandbags they’re levy and it collapsed about five o’clock this morning and their basement flooded so nowhere to go and vehicles couldn’t even get into the uh farmstead there so an airboat was used to uh rescue them so in walsh county north dakota uh numerous roads underwater if you’re gonna be driving anywhere especially at night make sure you heed the uh barricade signs sheriff says we have numerous roads here in walsh county underwater i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
