Hennepin County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of driving while impaired (DWI) following his appearance at the team’s NFL draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Peterson, 40, was pulled over around 3:20 a.m. on April 25 while driving an Audi Q5 southbound on Highway 77 near 66th Street in Richfield. He was reportedly traveling at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.14%, nearly twice Minnesota’s legal limit of 0.08%.

Peterson was booked into the Hennepin County Jail at 5:16 a.m. and released at 7:31 a.m. after posting a $4,000 bond. He faces a misdemeanor fourth-degree DWI charge and is scheduled to appear in court on May 9.

The arrest adds to Peterson’s history of legal issues, including a 2014 misdemeanor charge of reckless assault in Texas for disciplining his son with a switch, and a 2022 domestic incident on a flight that led to his removal from the plane.

Peterson, who played ten seasons with the Vikings after being selected in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft, was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year that season and earned seven Pro Bowl selections, the 2012 NFL MVP, and Offensive Player of the Year honors. He holds the NFL single-game rushing record with 296 yards, set in 2007.
