Fergus Falls (trfnews.i234.me)— In a harrowing incident on Thursday afternoon, a woman and several dogs were rescued from a burning home in Fergus Falls. Emergency responders arrived at the 700 block of Riverside Court around 10:05 p.m. after a neighbor reported smoke and flames emanating from the residence. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke billowing from the attic and flames along the eaves. They entered the home and discovered an adult female asleep, unaware of the escalating danger. She was promptly escorted out along with her dogs. The fire, which originated from embers of an exterior metal fireplace chimney igniting the wooden eaves, caused approximately $20,000 in damage. The home is currently uninhabitable, and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced resident. Fire officials emphasize the importance of regularly testing smoke alarms to ensure functionality.

Did you know? Regular maintenance of chimneys and fireplaces can prevent accidental fires. Additionally, having an evacuation plan and practicing it can save lives during emergencies.
