Beltrami County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Bemidji man is facing charges after an alleged domestic assault at a local apartment.
According to a criminal complaint, the case involves Raymond A. Jackson of Bemidji, Minnesota.
Court documents say the incident happened on November 29.
Deputies were sent to a Bemidji apartment for a report of domestic violence.
The report said a woman had been assaulted inside the residence.
When deputies arrived, they went into the apartment unit.
They found a woman crying in the bathroom, according to the complaint.
The woman had blood around her mouth and nose.
She told officers she had been assaulted during an argument with Jackson.
She said she feared more violence if the situation continued.
The woman reported that Jackson grabbed her by the tank top and her hair.
She said he tried to drag her out of the apartment doorway.
She told deputies she fought back to get away from him.
At one point, she bit his hand, trying to break free.
The complaint says she was finally able to pull away and hide in the bathroom.
Jackson later gave a different version of events, according to court records.
He claimed the woman was throwing things around the apartment.
He told deputies he held her down by the shoulders to stop her.
He also said she bit his hand during that struggle.
Deputies noted both people had signs of a physical fight.
