Grand Forks County: Woman Charged After New Year's Day Crash Involving Children

Grand Forks County (trfnews.i234.me)— A devastating head-on collision occurred on New Year’s Day on Sorley Bridge in downtown Grand Forks. According to court documents, Christina Fineout was driving westbound in the eastbound lane when she struck a silver Chevy Silverado head-on. The Silverado was carrying two adults, a two-month-old infant, and a three-year-old child; all occupants were transported to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

Following the accident, Fineout was taken into custody. During the booking process at the jail, authorities discovered she was in possession of methamphetamine. As a result, Fineout now faces multiple charges, including felonies for criminal vehicular injury and possession of a controlled substance by an inmate. Additionally, she has been charged with misdemeanors for aggravated reckless driving and refusal to submit to a DUI test.

This incident underscores the severe consequences of impaired and reckless driving, particularly when it endangers the lives of young children and families.

Did you know? Driving under the influence is a leading cause of traffic fatalities in the United States, with approximately 28 people dying every day in drunk-driving crashes.
