Barnes County, North Dakota: Driver Airlifted After Crashing Into Tree on Icy Highway — Serious Injuries Reported

Barnes County, North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — Authorities are investigating a serious injury crash that occurred Sunday evening, March 23, 2025, along Highway 32 near milepost 87 in Barnes County.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 6:18 p.m. under clear skies but with scattered ice patches on the roadway.

A 45-year-old male driver from Grand Forks, operating a 2012 Kia Sorrento, was traveling southbound on Highway 32 when his vehicle hit a patch of ice. He lost control, left the roadway, entered the east ditch, and collided with a tree.

The driver sustained serious injuries and was initially transported by Barnes County Ambulance, then later airlifted to Fargo by Sanford AirMed for further treatment.

Currently:

  • Restraint use is under investigation

  • No charges have been filed as of yet
