FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — A Fergus Falls man is facing a felony charge after damage was reported inside the Otter Tail County jail.
Adam R. Gronseth, of Fergus Falls, is charged with felony criminal damage to property.
The charge is based on a statement of probable cause filed in court.
Damage Reported At County Jail
According to the complaint, an officer was sent to the Otter Tail County Detention Facility on Jan. 2.
The call came in at about 1:21 p.m., the documents say.
A corrections officer reported damage to a kiosk inside the facility.
The kiosk included a monitor screen and a telephone attached to it.
The corrections officer said Gronseth began striking the screen with the phone.
Jail staff said they watched the incident as it happened.
Prior Incident Cited In Filing
The filing also notes a similar incident on Dec. 28.
Staff said the kiosk had been fixed after the earlier damage.
The documents say the same man was involved in the Dec. 28 incident.
Repair Cost Listed
The estimated cost to repair or replace the kiosk was listed at $1,160.
The complaint focuses on the damage report and the repair estimate.
Court papers list the repair or replacement cost at $1,160.
Minnesota law can allow a felony when damage is over $1,000.
That standard appears in Minnesota Statute 609.595.
Case Status
Gronseth was arrested and booked following the report, court papers state.
