Ulen (trfnews.i234.me) — One man was killed in a rural Clay County house fire Friday morning.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office said crews were dispatched at about 10:14 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9.
The call was for a house fire at 21148 160th Ave. N., near Ulen, Minnesota.
The report said the man could not get out.
Deputy attempted rescue
The Sheriff’s Office said a deputy arrived and entered the home.
The deputy tried to locate the man, the release said.
The deputy could not find him, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The deputy then exited as smoke increased, the release said.
Firefighters locate the victim
The Ulen Fire Department arrived and began suppression efforts.
Firefighters also searched the home, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Firefighters found the man in a bedroom, the release said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sheriff’s Office said the death was due to injuries from the fire.
Officials have not released the man’s name.

Investigation continues
The cause of the fire has not been released.
The Sheriff’s Office said the fire remains under investigation.
The Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division will assist, officials said.
Fire investigations often include origin and cause work.
More information may be released later.
Agencies that assisted
The Sheriff’s Office credited multiple agencies for help at the scene.
Those agencies included the Minnesota State Patrol and Hitterdal Fire.
Sanford Ambulance and Sanford AirMed also assisted.
The Salvation Army responded as well, officials said.
Red River Regional Dispatch also assisted, the Sheriff’s Office said.
