π Becker County, MN β Dennis Anthony Tibbetts Sr., 46, has been sentenced for felony third-degree burglary after being caught on security cameras stealing multiple items from a residence in Rochert on July 11, 2024.
A felony second-degree burglary charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement.
πΉ Caught on Camera: How the Crime Unfolded
πΉ Security cameras placed the day before by Becker County sheriffβs officers captured two men entering a garage at around 4 a.m.
πΉ Footage showed them walking up and down the driveway, carrying stolen items, including a TV and other valuables.
πΉ When officers arrived about 15 minutes later, several items were already missing.
π Arrest & Investigation
π A woman driving nearby was pulled over and admitted she was called by Tibbetts and another man to pick them up.
π Around 10 a.m., Tibbetts and his accomplice were found walking five miles from the scene, wet and wearing clothing matching the suspects seen on camera.
π Stolen items recovered near the residence included:
- Samsung TV
- Fireworks
- Flashlight
- Bag of hand tools
- Pink hoverboard
- Backpacks
The homeownerβs son identified the stolen items as belonging to the residence.
βοΈ Sentencing & Probation Conditions
π On Feb. 6, District Judge Michelle Lawson issued a stay of imposition of sentencing.

If Tibbetts successfully completes probation, the felony conviction will be reduced to a misdemeanor.
π Sentencing Terms:
πΉ 60 days in jail (credit for 8 days served)
πΉ $4,355 restitution to the victim
πΉ $500 fine + $160 court fees
πΉ Supervised probation for 5 years
πΉ No alcohol or drug use
πΉ Mandatory completion of a comprehensive assessment
πΉ Cognitive behavioral interventions as required by probation
