Altru Family YMCA to host free basketball clinic for boys – Obituary

GRAND FORKS – The Altru Family YMCA will host a basketball clinic for boys Wednesday, Jan. 15. The clinic sessions are open for boys in grades 2-6.

Offered for the first time, the free “Try the YBL” (Youth Basketball League) clinic will focus on basic basketball skills, sportsmanship, team play and participation, during which “all players get playing time while learning and having fun,” according to Danny Ray, sports and camp director.

“It’s a one-day event for kids to come out and get a glimpse of the Youth Basketball League, with skills and drills, to see what it’s like,” Ray said.

The sessions will be led by instructors who have basketball knowledge and experience, he said.

The YBL clinics will begin at 5:30 p.m. for second- and third-grade boys and at 6:30 p.m. for boys in fourth- through sixth-grades. Each session will run for about one hour.
