The charges stem from an incident at Ball’s Lakeville residence on May 23, 2024.
According to court documents, Israel went to her brother’s home for dinner around 6 p.m. Family members grew concerned after not hearing from her for several hours. At approximately 11 p.m., their mother drove to the residence to check on her. Upon arrival, she reportedly saw Ball “tear out of the house” and entered to discover a large amount of blood. She immediately called 911.
Lakeville police arrived at the scene and found evidence of extreme violence, including blood-covered tools, large knives and dismembered body parts inside the home.
Shortly afterward, a Rosemount resident reported to 911 that a man was captured on their home security camera placing what appeared to be a body part on their front step. Police conducted a search and located Ball in the backyard of a neighboring home. He had sustained a self-inflicted neck injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the cause of death as complex homicidal violence. They also confirmed Israel was between 17 and 18 weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
If convicted of premeditated first-degree murder, Ball faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. He remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail, with his next court hearing scheduled for Friday, Jan. 10, in Hastings.
