STANLEY, ND (trfnews.i234.me) – On December 22, 2024, at 11:07 a.m., Stanley Police responded to a report of a suspicious individual at Pursuit Church, located in the 100 block of First Street Southwest. The building, formerly a grocery store, now serves as a church.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a male individual inside the church who was in possession of a firearm and displaying a badge. When questioned by church attendees, the individual claimed to be working on a private government detail. Further interaction with the officers revealed that he alleged affiliation with the security detail for the former governor of North Dakota.
After verification, it was determined that the individual had no legitimate affiliation with any security detail and was not a licensed law enforcement officer in North Dakota. Consequently, he was arrested and booked into the Mountrail County Correctional Center on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm at a public gathering.
For more information on the legal implications of impersonating an officer in North Dakota, refer to the North Dakota Century Code, Section 12.1-13-04.
