FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – Former Cass County Sheriff’s Deputy, 26-year-old Carson Theodore Quam, has been charged with ten felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse materials. The charges were filed on December 3, 2024, in Cass County District Court. Investigators from the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) allege that Quam possessed these materials between September 2021 and September 2024 on a cellphone. The files reportedly depict children between the ages of 2 and 14, with some images showing adults engaging in sexual acts with the children.
Quam did not enter a plea during his initial court appearance on December 10, 2024. The judge set bail at $5,000. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 22, 2025.
Quam began his employment with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in December 2022. He resigned in September 2024 after the Sheriff’s Office was informed of the BCI investigation. Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner stated that Quam’s wife, Deputy Kayla Quam, who also works for the department, has been placed on administrative leave to prevent any potential interference with the investigation. Sheriff Jahner clarified that she is not facing any allegations.
