Pennington County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – On December 9, Ethan Alexander Johnson, 26, of St. Hilaire, appeared in court facing charges of felony third-degree sale of a controlled substance and gross misdemeanor drug possession. The felony charge carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years; however, Minnesota state sentencing guidelines suggest a range of 21 to 68 months, contingent upon the defendant’s prior criminal record.
Johnson is alleged to have transported Krista Rachelle Bergeron, 33, to a controlled drug purchase on November 2. During this operation, Bergeron reportedly sold 15.2 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant, as detailed in the probable cause statement. Additionally, Bergeron is accused of selling another 14 grams of methamphetamine on a separate occasion, during which Johnson was present as a passenger while another individual drove. Upon Johnson’s apprehension, law enforcement discovered a used needle in his possession, which tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine.
Bergeron has been charged with first-degree sale of a controlled substance and had her initial court appearance prior to Johnson’s. She remains in custody at the Pennington County Jail with a bond set at $100,000 cash or surety. Her omnibus hearing is scheduled for December 16 at 1:30 p.m.
Johnson’s bond was established at $10,000 cash or surety, and he has since been released from custody. His omnibus hearing is set for January 21 at 1:30 p.m.
