KITTSON COUNTY, MINN. (trfnews.i234.me) – Curtis Kovach, 30, has been charged with several felonies following an incident involving a stolen vehicle that was hit by a train.
Court documents state that Kovach took a Ford Explorer from a driveway in Hallock. The vehicle was abandoned and later struck by a train near Highway 75 and South Bryan Avenue. He also reportedly stole a credit card from the vehicle and searched other nearby vehicles for items to take.
Kovach was apprehended at a local hotel. During his booking at the jail, he resisted law enforcement, resulting in an injury to Hallock Police Chief Mike Docken, who suffered a broken leg.
Kovach faces charges including motor vehicle theft, burglary, and obstructing legal processes in a manner that caused significant risk of harm.
