ROTHSAY, MINN. (trfnews.i234.me) – A former clerk and treasurer for the City of Rothsay, Minnesota, Lisa Marie Zimmerman, 37, is accused of embezzling more than $48,000 from the city between November 2021 and August 2022.
Court documents allege that Zimmerman took cash utility payments, and recorded them as checks, but did not deposit the money.
Additionally, between June and September 2023, Zimmerman reportedly collected $2,187.59 via Venmo from t-shirt sales intended to benefit a local resident battling cancer. Authorities claim she deposited the funds into her personal bank account instead.
Zimmerman faces 14 felony theft charges in total. Her initial court appearance is scheduled for December 17, 2024.
