GRAND FORKS, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – At 6:13 PM on Tuesday, Grand Forks Police Department officers responded to a motorist assist call at the I-29 southbound on-ramp near Demers Avenue. A 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee was found parked on the roadside, partially blocking the lane. Officers located a man inside the vehicle, appearing to be asleep in the driver’s seat. Authorities suspected the man was under the influence.
The driver fled the scene southbound on I-29, initiating a police pursuit. Officers followed the vehicle to the 32nd Avenue South exit, where the driver crossed travel lanes and stopped on the I-29 southbound on-ramp. The suspect complied with commands, exited the vehicle, and was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as 53-year-old Marlin Lee Johnson of Grand Forks. He was charged with fleeing in a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, DUI, DUI refusal, and driving under suspension.
