GRAND FORKS, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — A Grand Forks teenager, Cazmere Haskins, 18, is expected to plead guilty to murder in December following a fatal stabbing incident earlier this year. Originally scheduled for a court appearance on Nov. 27, the case has been postponed.

Haskins, who was 17 at the time and a senior at Central High School, reached a plea deal that included a 40-year prison sentence recommendation from prosecutors. The agreement allows Haskins to request a reduced sentence, though it must be no less than 15 years.

The incident occurred in March at Sterling Pointe Apartments, located at 2605 S. 20th St., southeast of Walmart. Police reports indicate that Haskins and six friends met with four individuals at the location to settle undisclosed relationship disputes. The altercation escalated into a brawl during which Haskins allegedly stabbed 24-year-old Anfernee Economy in the heart, resulting in his death.

After the stabbing, police said Haskins shared a photo of the bloody knife in a group chat. Authorities later recovered the weapon hidden in his bedroom. During initial questioning, Haskins claimed he acted in self-defense.
