JAMESTOWN, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – Mikah Alan Striefel, a 22-year-old man from Valley City, has been sentenced for his involvement in an incident where shots were fired into a parked vehicle in Jamestown.
Striefel pleaded guilty to charges including criminal mischief (reduced from a Class C felony), false reports to law enforcement, and discharging a firearm within city limits. He was subsequently sentenced by Judge James Shockman to 64 days in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with credit for time served.
As part of his sentence, Striefel was also placed on three years of supervised probation and ordered to pay $1,325 in restitution along with other fees totaling $825.
The incident occurred on September 11th when an off-duty Jamestown police officer reported hearing gunshots in a southeast neighborhood. Responding officers found a parked Buick SUV with multiple bullet holes but no one was injured as surrounding homes were occupied at the time.
Investigations revealed that Striefel intentionally caused damage to the vehicle, provided false information to law enforcement, and discharged a firearm within city limits.
Under North Dakota law, Class A misdemeanors are punishable by up to 360 days in prison and $3,000 fines while Class B misdemeanors carry maximum sentences of 30 days in prison and $1,500 fines.
