FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – Cairo Restaurant and Bar in south Fargo is facing potential consequences for violating city ordinance regarding serving alcohol after hours. The establishment had initially pledged to transform from a once-nightclub hotspot into a family-friendly restaurant.
According to reports, police responded to the bar on three separate occasions in July, with an additional incident reported at the Liquor Control Board meeting on November 20. It was alleged that the bar hosted a concert after operating hours in October, leading to a charge against owner Heba Ismail for allowing alcohol service outside permitted hours.
Liquor Board members questioned whether further measures were necessary to ensure Cairo Restaurant and Bar adhered to city regulations. Captain Matt Christensen of the Fargo Police Department stated that officers had been diligent in monitoring the establishment’s compliance with guidelines, emphasizing that they could remain open as long as no alcohol was served.
Board member Rob Nelson asked if concerts were being held at unusual hours, such as 3 am inside the bar. Captain Christensen confirmed this to be true. Dave Piepkorn chimed in, suggesting that there might need to be a discussion about addressing future issues related to noise levels and operating hours.
On Monday’s City Commission agenda, it was announced that they would discuss a liquor license suspension and revocation agreement with Cairo Restaurant and Bar.
