HINCKLEY, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) — Kirk Edward Hazlett III has been charged with murder for his involvement in a fatal shooting incident that occurred on November 15th. The victim of this crime was Hazlett’s father, Kirk Edward Hazlett II.
According to official reports, Hazlett II and two other men were staying at their family’s hunting cabin when the incident took place. Prior to the shooting, a trail cam had alerted them that Hazlett III was approaching with a gun in hand. Upon entering the cabin, Hazlett III began firing his weapon multiple times before standing over his father and delivering an additional fatal shot.
Hazlett II suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, ultimately leading to his death. The witness accounts of this incident describe it as an “execution-style” killing.
The strained relationship between Hazlett II and his son had been a topic of discussion among family members for some time prior to the shooting. In fact, Hazlett III had previously been trespassed from their property after police were called in response to a dispute between him and his father.
Following the incident, two witnesses who saw the shooting unfold managed to convince Hazlett III to let them go by surrendering their phones. They then ran to a neighbor’s residence where they helped call 911 for assistance.
Hazlett III was later apprehended at his Cambridge residence and taken into custody. He currently resides in Pine County Jail and has made his first court appearance.
