NDSU Volleyball Sweeps Kansas City on Senior Night, 3-0

FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State volleyball team swept Kansas City, 3-0, on Saturday night at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.

Arianna Blohm notched a match-high 11 kills with three blocks, while Ali Hinze contributed 10 digs with eight kills and a season-high five total blocks. Maddy Dombeck passed out a match-best 18 assists with four digs and Logan O’Brien added in 10 digs on the defensive end.

NDSU (11-13, 7-8 Summit) used seven unanswered points in the opening frame to double up Kansas City (6-20, 4-11 Summit), 14-7, following a service ace from Ally Barth. The Bison then assembled another 4-1 run to stretch their lead to 18-9 after a block and kill from Blohm. NDSU closed out the first set, 25-17.

The two teams battled through a match-high 12 tie scores and six lead changes in the second set until the Roos used a 5-0 run to steal a 21-18 advantage. The Bison responded to pull back within two, 22-20, with a block from Blohm and Emma Tallman. Following an attack error, the Bison closed out the set with five straight points, including two kills from Hinze to win the frame, 25-23.

NDSU carried the energy into the third set putting together an 8-1 run capped off with an ace from Maddy Dombeck to make the score 15-9. The Bison then increased their lead to 18-12 with a kill from Hinze. NDSU went on to close out the set, 25-16, and the match, 3-0.

NDSU will wrap up regular season play hosting North Dakota on Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse
