HILLSBORO, Ore. – The Portland State women’s soccer team notched its second draw of the weekend, playing to a scoreless stalemate against Idaho State on Sunday afternoon at Hillsboro Stadium.
The tie brings the Vikings’ record to 2-6-4 overall and 0-1-3 in Big Sky play, while the Bengals now sit at 2-5-5 overall and 1-1-1 in conference action.
Despite the scoreless draw on Sunday, the Vikings outperformed the Bengals statistically, outshooting them 24-12 and holding a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Both goalkeepers were outstanding, with Eden Millan securing her second shutout of the season while recording four saves. Idaho State’s Trinity Hale notched her sixth shutout of the season.
The first half was action-packed, as both teams traded shots but failed to convert. The Vikings applied early pressure, with several attempts from Saldana and Lucy Quinn, but Hale made crucial saves to keep the home team off the scoreboard. The teams combined for eight corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes, and Portland State tallied 12 shots, doubling Idaho State’s first-half attempts.
The second half was equally competitive, with both teams exchanging shots and neither gaining a significant edge in possession. As they looked to break the tie, the final six minutes were particularly intense offensively, with the Vikings firing off a pair of shots while the Bengals added three of their own. Elle Frazier capped off Portland State’s efforts, delivering their final shot of the day with less than 15 seconds remaining, but Hale was there to make the stop.
Portland State’s 24 shots marked a season high, with Aliayha Saldana leading the charge with eight shots—an individual season high for the Vikings and the first time a Viking has recorded eight or more shots since 2016.
The Vikings will continue their conference home stand this week when they host Northern Colorado on October 10 at Hillsboro Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 PM.
