Robert “Bob” Lunney, age 92, of Northwood and formerly Larimore, ND died Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Northwood Nursing Home where he had been comfortably living since 2017.
Bob was born on June 25, 1932 to Hugh and Gladys (Delaney) Lunney near Larimore, ND. Growing up, Bob worked on the family farm alongside his father and brother until the farm was sold and they moved into Larimore. In 1966 he began working as a janitor in the Larimore School System until his retirement in 2008.
Bob always resided with his mother, helping her with the house and yard work. Bob loved gardening and continued to expand his garden plot each year. He could frequently be seen selling his produce about town. Bob was also an avid stamp collector.
Bob was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Larimore. He was Baptized and Confirmed his Catholic faith there.
Bob was a loner, preferring not to be in the center of activity. He spent many holiday meals with the Weber family. During conversations his knowledge of world and financial events was very obvious he enjoyed reading and keeping up with the news.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his only sibling Richard, and nephew Jeff. He is survived by his niece Cindy Fuller and nephew Mike Lunney, along with several great nieces and nephews, and friend Pam Pollert of Northwood.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10 a.m. Monday, November 18 in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Larimore.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service.
