Eugene H. “Gene” Mach, 85, Grand Forks, died Wednesday, October 30, 2024 in Valley Senior Living on Columbia.
Eugene Harry Mach, the son of Harry Emil Mach and Gertrude Elizabeth (O’Reilly) Mach, was born in Grafton, North Dakota on December 14, 1938.
Eugene was raised and educated at Minto, North Dakota. He continued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Mathematics from Mayville State University.
Eugene married Arlene Dobson on June 7, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Minto ND. He was a teacher at Flaxton, North Dakota before starting his career with the US Customs Service assigned to the Pembina area and later in Washington, DC, Chicago, and Brunswick, GA. He received the President’s Award for Distinguished Federal Civilian Service from President Reagan.
He enjoyed RV’ing, horse racing, and casinos.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Arlene Mach; his children, Tammi Price (Marc), Tom Mach (Dina), Mike Mach (Margaret) and Leann Goss (Rick); 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Brother Harold Mach (Mary).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Gertrude Mach, a brother Dennis Mach, and nephew Pat Mach.
A Celebration life for Eugene and Arlene will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 3 to 5 p.m. with a 4:00 Prayer Service and Sharing of Memories in Amundson Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene and Arlene will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks with visitation one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Minto, North Dakota
