NDSU Soccer Looks to Claim Regular Season Title vs. St. Thomas

FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State wraps up the regular season and Summit League play on Sunday, hosting St. Thomas at Dacotah Field. The Bison will look to secure the 2024 Summit League Regular Season Championship and lock up the No. 1 seed in the Summit League Tournament against the Tommies, with kickoff set for 1 p.m.

The Bison cannot be seeded worse than second headed into the Summit League Tournament.

The Series
The least played series among Summit League teams in Bison Soccer history, NDSU and St. Thomas will meet for just the 4th time in series history on Sunday. The Bison started the series with a 1-0 win at St. Thomas on Halloween in 2021. However, St. Thomas won 3-2 in Fargo on September 30, 2022 and the two teams tied 0-0 last season back in St. Paul on October 1, 2023.
 
Russmann, Watson Sweep Peak Performer Honors
Morgan Russmann and Olivia Watson swept the Summit League Peak Performer of the Week honors. Russmann was named the offensive peak performer after scoring three goals and an assist, with Watson scooping up the defensive peak performer honors, recording an assist and helping the defense to a cleansheet against then league leading South Dakota State.
 
Wrapping Last Week
The Bison vaulted to the top of the Summit League standings with six crucial points from two wins last week.  NDSU started off with a 1-0 win over South Dakota State, who entered the week atop the standings on goal difference. The Bison then reeled off four goals in a victory over South Dakota on Sunday to remain three points clear of SDSU at the top of the league.
 
What’s Next?
North Dakota State will enter the Summit League Tournament, which begins next week. If the Bison are the #1 seed, they will host the semifinal and quarterfinal rounds at Dacotah Field on November 7 and 10. If the Bison are the #2 seed, they will have a bye next week before joining three other teams in the semifinal round.
