November 30, 1969 – November 4, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tracy Jill Magenau, 54, of East Grand Forks, Minnesota, on November 4, 2024.
Born November 30, 1969, Tracy was a beacon of warmth, compassion, and strength to all who knew her. She graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1988, and her strong work ethic was evident in her dedicated career. Tracy worked at Payless as a manager for over 25 years, where she formed lasting friendships and served the community with her signature kindness. She also spent three years at Valley Dairy and three months at Holiday Gas Station, always bringing warmth and a smile to her workplace.
Tracy was full of life, bringing joy and laughter to every gathering. She loved baking pies and working on jigsaw puzzles, finding joy in these simple pleasures. Unsweetened tea from McDonald’s-always with four Sweet ‘N Low-was her favorite treat, and she cherished the thrill of racing with her brother Shane. Her devotion to family was unwavering; she found happiness in collecting Angel Dreamsicles and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings alongside her son-in-law, Austin. Tracy enjoyed indulging in root beer barrel rolls, watching her favorite show, Big Brother, and lighting up any party she attended with radiant energy.
She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Magenau of East Grand Forks, MN, and her cherished children: Savanah (Austin) Knutson of Emerado, ND; Kendra (Kaiden) Magenau of East Grand Forks, MN; Mason Magenau of East Grand Forks, MN; and Alyssa Magenau of East Grand Forks, MN. She also leaves behind her honorary daughter, Corrina Brown of Fargo, North Dakota.
In addition to her immediate family, Tracy is survived by her father, Dale (Kathy) Feekes of Luverne, MN; siblings, Greg (Raelene) Aarhus of Emerado, ND; Shane (Dawn) Roemeling of Thompson, ND; Wayne (Linda) Warnke of Emerado, ND; Lynn (Debbie) Warnke of Emerado, ND; Gloria Hayden of Emerado, ND; Twila (Brad) Vettel of Arvilla, ND; Shelia (Jim) Dybas of Grand Forks, ND; Sharon (David) Bakke of Mekinock, ND; Sonda (Duane) Balcom of Loudon, TN; and Lila (Jim) Jarman of Larimore, ND. Her nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins, and Uncle Grant will fondly remember her laughter, love, and joyful spirit.
Tracy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Helen and George Aarhus; her beloved mother, Sonya Roemeling; her sisters, Bonnie Aarhus, Susan Tveten, and Jewel Schneider; her nieces, Justine Aarhus, Amanda Tveten, Karen Acosta, and Teresa Aarhus; and her nephew, Tyson Warnke. She now rests in peace with them.
A visitation will be held at Hope Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Tuesday, November 12, from 5 pm to 7 pm, with a prayer service to follow. The funeral will be at the same location on Wednesday, November 13, at 10 am, with a visitation starting at 9 a.m.
