Thomas K. Welte – Obituary

Thomas Keith Welte was born on June 25, 1970 to Keith & Helen (Landman) Welte. He was the youngest of their 8 children. Tom attended school in Larimore and graduated in 1988. His easy smile, quick wit and kind heart made a lasting impression on many of his teachers and classmates.

Tom was a man of various interests and talents. He loved to garden and to share the bounty. Mechanically inclined, he would tinker and fix. He could bake a mean loaf of bread and cracked the code on the Aunt Fanny cake recipe. Like his mother, Tom was gifted at memorizing and reciting poetry. He revered the written word and was a scholar of the Bible.

Tom treasured and spoiled many-a-dog in his lifetime and was as loyal to them as they were to him. He had special friendships with young and old people alike and was notorious for his random, conversational visits. He was also civic-minded and a frequent blood donor. Collecting, organizing, and cataloging stuff was a daily hobby for Tom. He kept most anything useful or unique. He had an impressive album collection, and his true colors appeared when he listened and sang along to music. He was a Bob Dylan aficionado.

Tom is survived by his mother and five siblings: Jo, Peter, Letha, H.D., and Beth. He was preceded in death by his father; his sister, Nancy; his brother, John; and his nephew, Keith James.

Throughout his life, Tom was thoughtful, curious, and unconventional. God Speed.
