Rural Minnesota Semi Crash Claims Lives of 11 Cattle

OTTER TAIL COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A semi-truck crash occurred on Tuesday evening in rural Dent, Minnesota. The incident happened at approximately 9:05 PM when the vehicle overturned while attempting to turn off of westbound County Highway 35 onto 360th Street.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and reported that the truck was hauling 37 head of cattle. Due to the severity of the situation, holes were cut in the top and bottom of the trailer to safely release the animals.

Unfortunately, seven cattle perished as a result of the crash. Four others had to be euthanized at the scene due to their injuries. The surviving cattle were taken from the area by a private party for further care.

The driver, a 27-year-old male from Wichita, Kansas, escaped without injury in the incident. The Sheriff’s Office received assistance from local fire departments and Beyer Towing Company during the response and cleanup efforts.
