FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) – A 38-year-old man from Fargo has been charged with gross sexual imposition following an incident at a hotel on October 18. According to court documents, Richard Natee was accused of engaging in a sexual act with a woman who was sleeping at the time.
Fargo Police were dispatched to the hotel after receiving a report of sexual assault. The victim told officers that she had been asleep when Natee, a friend of her boyfriend’s, engaged in the alleged act without her consent. A witness, the victim’s boyfriend, stated that he woke up to his girlfriend screaming as Natee got off of her.
Natee claimed during questioning that the sex was consensual, but appeared intoxicated and struggled to maintain balance. He could not recall the name of a club where they had started drinking the night before.
As a result of the investigation, Natee was arrested and taken to Essentia Health for medical clearance before being booked into the Cass County Jail. The victim was transported to Sanford Health for a sexual assault examination.
If convicted, Natee could face a minimum of five years of supervised probation and mandatory registration as a sexual offender. The investigation remains ongoing.
