NDSU Volleyball Tops North Dakota, 3-1

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Lauren Jansen and Maddy Dombeck each notched a double-double as the North Dakota State volleyball team topped North Dakota, 3-1, on Tuesday night at Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.

Jansen paced the Bison (8-9, 4-4 Summit) logging a double-double with 11 digs and team-best 10 kills. Dombeck also added a double-double with a team-best 19 assists and 12 digs. The Bison totaled 77 digs on the defensive end of the floor with Ali Hinze recording a season-best 20.

After the two teams traded the first two frames, NDSU used seven unanswered points to steal a 20-13 advantage in the third set. The Fighting Hawks (8-11, 1-7 Summit) responded with an 8-1 run of their own to lock the frame, 21-21, after an attack error. The two teams then exchanged points until the Bison closed the set with 4-1 run, including a pair of kills from Jansen and Ally Barth to win the set, 26-24.

NDSU carried the energy into the fourth frame building a 10-6 advantage following a service ace from Logan O’Brien. The Bison then began to put the match away with five straight points to make the score 21-13 after a kill from Hinze. NDSU went on win the set, 25-17, and the match, 3-1.

NDSU will be back in action hosting St. Thomas on Thursday night. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m., at Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
