Amish Buggy Driver Seriously Injured in Collision with Minivan Near New York Mills

NEW YORK MILLS, Minn. (trfnews.i234.me) – A serious accident occurred on Monday evening when a horse-drawn Amish buggy was struck by a minivan near New York Mills, Minnesota.

According to reports from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, 40-year-old Mabel Stauffer of New York Mills suffered severe injuries in the collision. The incident happened at an intersection on County Highway 67 shortly before 6 p.m.

The driver of the van involved in the accident was identified as 85-year-old Allyn Jokela, also a resident of New York Mills. He received treatment for minor injuries at the scene but did not require further medical attention.

Stauffer, who was driving the Amish buggy, was taken to Sanford Health in Perham for evaluation and treatment. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

The collision remains under investigation by local authorities. No additional information has been released regarding potential causes or contributing factors.
