FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) – A shocking turn of events has unfolded in the investigation into the June 24 shooting death of Zion Brooks at the Arbors apartment complex in south Fargo. State charges against Amire Logan, 20, have been dropped as federal prosecutors take over the case.
Fargo Police initially arrested Logan for murder after Brooks’ body was found on top of a 9mm handgun and a .45 casing was discovered nearby. However, investigators later learned that Brooks had possessed a gun at the time of his death, which led to Logan being charged with felon in possession of a firearm.
The case took another twist when Logan was arrested again after a September traffic stop. Police found a gun in his backpack, and the serial number had been scratched off. Additionally, two small bags containing cocaine and marijuana were discovered on him during his booking at the Cass County Jail. He faced new charges for felon in possession of a firearm, illegally altering a firearm, and drug possession.
On October 11, all open state charges against Logan were dropped by the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office. The decision was made because federal prosecutors will now handle the case instead.
