MOORHEAD — An 18-year-old Fargo resident, Isaac Arndt, has been indicted by a Clay County grand jury on multiple charges related to the tragic death of 14-year-old Jaelyn Walker in Moorhead. The indictment, announced on Wednesday, October 9, includes first-degree murder with premeditation and second-degree murder with intent. If convicted of first-degree murder, Arndt faces a mandatory life sentence.
Walker’s body was discovered along the Red River near Sixth Avenue and Elm Street South on August 20, shortly after her mother reported her missing. Court documents reveal that Arndt and Walker were in a heated argument over the end of their romantic relationship before Arndt fatally stabbed her multiple times.
Arndt’s bail has been set at $4 million without conditions or $2 million with GPS monitoring. Initially charged with second-degree murder, nearly 4,000 people signed a petition calling for more severe charges. His next court hearing is scheduled for November 7.
