Muhammad Abdullah, 22, was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment, a Class B felony, according to the Jamestown Police Department.
Authorities say the arrest followed an investigation that included two search warrants and the collection of evidence related to the shooting.
Multiple Shots Fired During Downtown Altercation
The original incident occurred early Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the 100 block of 2nd Street Northeast in downtown Jamestown.
Police responded at approximately 12:25 a.m. after a caller reported a disturbance near a parking lot and possible gunshots.
Officers spoke with several individuals at the scene and located evidence indicating that multiple rounds had been fired from a firearm.
Authorities reported finding no injuries or property damage during their initial investigation.
Two Search Warrants Lead to Arrest
As investigators continued reviewing the circumstances surrounding the gunfire, police identified a person of interest.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, the investigation led officers to obtain and execute two search warrants.
Authorities subsequently took Abdullah into custody without incident.
Police said the evidence gathered established probable cause to believe the incident created a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death to another person.
Investigators have not publicly detailed the evidence recovered during the searches or explained Abdullah’s alleged role in the altercation.
Class B Felony Reckless Endangerment Allegation
Abdullah was arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment involving a firearm.
Under North Dakota Century Code Section 12.1-17-03, reckless endangerment involves creating a substantial risk of serious bodily injury or death to another person. The offense is classified as a Class B felony when a firearm is used.
The arrest reflects an allegation supported by a probable cause determination, not a criminal conviction.
Suspect Taken to Stutsman County Corrections
Following his arrest, Abdullah was transported to Stutsman County Corrections to await formal charges.
As of the initial police announcement, a formal charging document, court appearance date, and bail conditions had not been confirmed in the information released.
