Bagley Man Charged After Fight, .169 DWI Test
BAGLEY, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A 43-year-old Bagley man faces two criminal charges following a family dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.
Troy Alan Wilcowski is charged with second-degree driving while impaired and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
According to a Clearwater County criminal complaint, deputies responded to reported threats and a fight on September 30, 2026.
Investigators later reported a preliminary breath alcohol reading of .169, more than twice Minnesota’s standard legal limit.
Deputies Respond to Threats Near Bagley
The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office received a report of threats around 10:15 p.m.
Les Renollette told dispatch that Wilcowski was threatening to come to his residence and fight him.
Renollette also reported that a pickup had arrived at the property.
He believed Wilcowski might be inside the vehicle.
Deputies responded to a residence along 330th Street outside Bagley.
Upon arrival, investigators contacted Wilcowski, who came outside to speak with them.
Dispute Involved Wife and Cousin
According to court documents, Wilcowski told deputies he had recently learned about a relationship involving his wife and cousin.
The complaint identifies his wife as F.W. and the cousin as Les Renollette.
Wilcowski reportedly said he was upset after learning the two had developed a personal relationship.
He initially claimed his daughter had driven him to Renollette’s residence.
During the conversation, deputies noticed bloodshot and watery eyes, slurred speech, and an odor of alcohol.
Wilcowski also reportedly admitted striking Renollette.
Deputies placed him under arrest.
Man Found Bleeding After Confrontation
Investigators entered the residence and found Renollette sitting on a couch with blood coming from his face.
Renollette told deputies his nose was bleeding but declined an ambulance.
According to the complaint, Renollette had previously been staying with Wilcowski and F.W.
He said the couple had offered him a place to live when he needed housing.
Renollette acknowledged that he and F.W. later developed feelings for each other.
He told deputies another relative had informed Wilcowski about the relationship.
Renollette alleged Wilcowski came to the residence, struck him, and grabbed his neck.
He reportedly said he did not strike Wilcowski back and instead tried to maintain distance.
Daughter Disputes Father’s Driving Claim
Deputies also interviewed Wilcowski’s adult daughter about the events leading to the confrontation.
She reported witnessing an argument between her parents earlier that evening.
According to the complaint, Wilcowski demanded that F.W. choose between him and Renollette.
He allegedly slammed his hand on a table and told F.W. to pack her belongings.
The daughter later drove F.W. to another residence.
She told investigators that Wilcowski subsequently decided to confront Renollette.
According to her statement, she tried to convince her father not to drive.
She said she refused to transport him and instead followed his white Ford pickup.
The daughter also reported witnessing part of the physical confrontation.
Wilcowski Admits Driving After Drinking
After receiving a Miranda warning, Wilcowski reportedly agreed to speak with deputies.
According to the complaint, he acknowledged driving to the residence himself.
He also admitted drinking alcohol and described himself as having “maybe a buzz.”
Wilcowski reportedly admitted striking Renollette once in the nose.
Deputies administered an eye movement test and reported observing possible signs of impairment.
Wilcowski then provided a preliminary breath sample.
The roadside test returned an alcohol concentration of .169.
Open Beer Found Inside Pickup
Investigators searched Wilcowski’s vehicle following his arrest.
According to the complaint, deputies found an open beer in a center console cup holder.
Wilcowski was transported to the Clearwater County Jail.
Investigators later obtained a search warrant authorizing a blood or urine sample.
After receiving the warrant, Wilcowski agreed to provide a urine sample.
The sample was collected for testing by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
The supplied complaint does not include final laboratory results from that sample.
Prior DWI Conviction Cited
Prosecutors identified two aggravating factors supporting the second-degree DWI charge.
The first involves the preliminary alcohol reading exceeding Minnesota’s .16 threshold.
The second involves a previous qualifying impaired driving conviction.
According to court documents, Wilcowski was convicted of misdemeanor DWI on May 18, 2022.
The complaint also identifies a previous DWI test refusal conviction from 2008.
