On October 12, 2026, at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported break-in at a residence in Millarton, approximately 15 miles southwest of Jamestown.
The suspect, identified as Leland Schneider, 37, of Gackle, ND, allegedly kicked in the door of the residence before leaving the area.

A Stutsman County deputy located the suspect’s vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Schneider fled, leading deputies and a North Dakota State Patrol trooper on a pursuit that ended near the intersection of 52nd Street and 76th Avenue SE.

Schneider stopped his vehicle in the roadway, exited, and attempted to flee on foot. During the incident, Schneider assaulted a Stutsman County deputy and a North Dakota State Patrol trooper. Both officers sustained minor injuries.

Schneider was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for medical clearance before being booked into the Stutsman County Jail.

Schneider faces multiple charges in Stutsman County, including criminal mischief, domestic assault, assault on a peace officer, fleeing or attempting to elude, disarming or attempting to disarm a peace officer, preventing or resisting arrest, refusal to halt, DUI, DUI refusal, reckless driving, and theft.

**All charges are allegations, and Schneider is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
