MINNEAPOLIS (trfnews.i234.me) — A Minnesota man has been arrested following multiple threats to “shoot up” Temple Israel, a prominent synagogue in Minneapolis. According to authorities, the synagogue staff reported receiving several alarming phone calls on September 11. The calls came just ahead of the Jewish New Year and the one-year anniversary of the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
The Minneapolis Police Department responded quickly, assigning extra patrols around the synagogue. On Thursday, officers were alerted to a man outside the synagogue with a firearm. Although he fled the scene, police successfully arrested the 21-year-old suspect the following day.
“We will ensure our Jewish community is protected as they celebrate the holy days,” said Police Chief Brian O’Hara, emphasizing the department’s commitment to safeguarding religious institutions.
The man is facing charges of making terroristic threats, and the case has been referred to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for further investigation. While officers found no gun during the arrest, the suspect reportedly used a phone app to disguise his voice while issuing threats.
