What were they thinking ?
I came very close to going over a notoriously dangerous low head dam decades ago. A little distraction or disorientation and it’s too late to do anything but try and ride it out.
I hate to say this but people need to learn life jacket in a boat doesn't save lives, wearing the life jacket does save lives. And don't say but they are uncomfortable because know they have comfortable ones and ones that will automatically inflat when you are immersed in water. Plus I would rather be uncomfortable for a few hours then not come home at all.
The water is still cold, the Rocks are hard, the current is strong, and your in a Canoe in the remote wilderness. You Portage around areas like that. I hope they are ok, but I doubt it.
Not sure it was reported they were not wearing life jackets.
What has been reported is that they had helped another pair of canoeists who were about to go over the falls, but then their canoe was sucked into the current.
FYI: wearing your life jacket may or may not save your life, but it will make finding your body easier.
They call it a wilderness for a reason. People forget that

Please, God bless these men 🙏 I pray they are safe and will be found ● prayers and comfort for the family's. I'll be praying until they come home. I work with a family relative and know how devastating this is.
