Megan Joan Peterson, 36

Megan Joan Peterson, 36, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Solvay Hospice House in Duluth.
She was born on December 1, 1989, in Thief River Falls to proud parents Therese and Scott Peterson.
Megan and her family moved to Middle River shortly after she was born, where she grew to adulthood and graduated from Greenbush-Middle River High School in 2008. From a young age, Megan had a certain “spunk” and a very creative mind. In the Peterson household, there was a tradition that on your birthday the child didn’t have to do any chores. Megan always got creative and managed to have a birthday-month chore free. Megan’s creativity turned into art as she got older. Megan would start with a blank canvas and turn it into a masterpiece. Many family members have her art displayed in their homes. Megan was known as a bold individual and stood strong in her beliefs. She absolutely loved being auntie to her nephews and niece. Megan was also the instigator when they were being naughty.
Megan had an amazing support system that her family would like to recognize: Aaron Riesen, Trisha Waterworth, Verne and Mari Wagner, Mathew Wagner, Robin Evanson, and Catlin Milligan. Your love and support meant the world to Megan and her family is forever grateful. The family would also like to recognize the Solvay Hospice House staff for the outstanding quality care that was given in such a respectful and compassionate way. It will never be forgotten.
Megan is survived by her mother, Therese; father, Scott Peterson; sisters, Diana (Jon) Blumhorst and Nicole Zila; brother, Douglas (Lexie) Peterson; nephews, Hudson and Bridger Blumhosrt, Izaac Henry, Miles and Miller Peterson; and niece, Mallory Peterson.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Harold and Joan Peterson, Richard and Clare Bruggeman; auntie, Patty Peterson; uncles, Mark Peterson and Tim Bruggeman.
Megan’s wishes were to have friendship gathering on the shores of Lake Superior which will take place at Kitchi Gammi Park (Brighton Beach) in Duluth at 2 p.m. on October 10, 2026.
There will also be a family gathering at the Spruce Valley Community Center from 1-3 p.m. in Middle River on October 17, 2026 and burial at the Spruce Valley Cemetery following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Solvay Hospice House in Duluth in memory of Megan.
