Ada Man Charged in Roseau County Semi Theft
Roseau County (trfnews.i234.me) — An Ada man faces two felony charges after an alleged theft involving a semi, trailer, and grain.
Ryan Tadd Grindahl, 41, is charged in Roseau County District Court.
The case stems from an incident reported on September 18, 2026.
Semi Reported Stolen
According to the criminal complaint, authorities responded to a rural Roseau County property.
The call involved a report of a stolen semi and trailer.
A man at the property told authorities he heard the truck operating in the yard.
He went outside to investigate.
The complaint says he found the semi jackknifed in the yard.
Grindahl was allegedly sitting in the driver’s seat with the doors locked.
The man was eventually able to open the truck’s door.
Grindahl then allegedly ran north toward a gravel road, according to the complaint.
Owner Says Permission Was Not Given
Authorities later spoke with the owner of the semi.
The owner told investigators Grindahl did not have permission to drive the vehicle.
The complaint places the semi’s estimated value at approximately $50,000.
The trailer was also valued at about $50,000.
Grain inside the trailer was valued at approximately $20,000.
The combined estimated value was therefore about $120,000.
Two Felony Theft Charges
Grindahl faces one count of felony theft involving movable property without the owner’s consent.
The charge alleges he intended to permanently deprive the owner of the property.
He also faces felony theft of a motor vehicle.
That count alleges he took or drove the semi without the owner’s consent.
Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both.
More information about Minnesota theft law is available through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.
The charges are allegations. Grindahl is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
