Plummer Stop Leads to Felony Meth Charge, DWI

Plummer (trfnews.i234.me) — An Erskine woman faces felony drug and DWI charges after a September traffic stop in Red Lake County.

Renee Cecilia Peralta, 47, is charged in Red Lake County District Court.

The case stems from events on September 12, 2026.

Vehicle Seen Near Park And School

According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement first saw a white Chevrolet Tahoe in Plummer.

The vehicle was parked near Lions Park.

The complaint says the Tahoe later traveled past Red Lake County Central Elementary School.

Authorities continued watching the vehicle as it traveled south on Highway 59.

The Tahoe later stopped at a gas station before continuing south.

Law enforcement eventually stopped the vehicle on 270th Street Southeast.

Driver Showed Alleged Signs Of Impairment

Peralta was identified as the driver.

The complaint alleges she appeared nervous and spoke rapidly during the stop.

Authorities also reported constricted pupils and uncontrollable shaking.

Peralta agreed to perform field sobriety tests.

The complaint says she swayed and showed other signs investigators associated with controlled-substance impairment.

She was then arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired.

Scale Allegedly Tests Positive For Meth

Authorities searched the Tahoe after the arrest.

Investigators reported finding a small green scale inside the center console.

The scale allegedly contained white residue and small crystal-like material.

A field test was presumptively positive for methamphetamine, according to the complaint.

A second presumptive test later produced the same result.

The scale was photographed and placed into evidence.

Blood Sample Collected

A search warrant was obtained for a blood or urine sample.

Peralta selected a blood test.

The sample was later submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.

The complaint also lists a qualifying impaired-driving conviction from February 2020.

Felony Drug Charge Filed

Peralta is charged with third-degree possession of methamphetamine in a school or park zone.

The felony carries a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment or a $250,000 fine.

More information about the statute is available through the Minnesota Revisor of Statutes.

She also faces a gross misdemeanor DWI charge involving a controlled substance.

That charge carries a maximum penalty of 364 days in jail or a $3,000 fine.

The charges are allegations. Peralta is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
