Thief River Falls (trfnews.i234.me) — A Thief River Falls woman faces two gross misdemeanor charges following a September 9 disturbance.

Maci Anamae Marvin Nichols, 22, is charged in Pennington County District Court.

Nichols faces domestic assault and interference with a 911 call.

Each charge carries up to 364 days in jail and a possible $3,000 fine.

Police Called To Atlantic Avenue

Police responded around 9:47 p.m. to a home on Atlantic Avenue North.

Dispatchers were initially on an active 911 call with a woman at the residence.

A man from the home later called 911 and reported that a woman needed to leave.

Police identified the woman as Nichols.

According to the complaint, Nichols was emotional and crying while speaking with police.

She allegedly told police she wanted her boyfriend out of the house.

Nichols also admitted trying to get a phone away from him, according to the complaint.

Boyfriend Reports Being Hit

Nichols told investigators the dispute escalated when her boyfriend attempted to call police.

She allegedly said she tried to knock the phone from his hands.

When asked whether she had hit him, Nichols reportedly said she did not believe she had.

Her boyfriend gave police a different account.

He alleged Nichols jumped on top of him and began hitting him in the face.

Police reported observing visible marks on his face.

The boyfriend said he then grabbed his phone and attempted to call 911.

According to the complaint, Nichols took the phone while he was trying to make the emergency call.

Nichols Arrested

Police arrested Nichols following their investigation at the residence.

She was taken to the Pennington County Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Prosecutors charged Nichols with gross misdemeanor domestic assault.

The complaint alleges the offense occurred within 10 years of a qualifying domestic violence-related conviction.

Nichols was convicted of domestic assault in 2025, according to the complaint.

The complaint also states she was on supervised probation.

Nichols is additionally charged with intentionally interfering with an emergency call.

The new charges are allegations. Nichols is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
